Appointed CASA Placer County Board Chairman in 2005, Ms. Rinker is very active in the community, particularly with human rights campaigns and children advocacy programs. As a former Fortune 100 IT Executive, Ms. Rinker brings business enterprise and operations experience to our leadership team.
Arla Gibson, Board Vice-President

Ms. Gibson is a long-time Auburn resident and the former Executive Director of Peace for Families. She brings to Child Advocates a strong background in non-profit management, fundraising, event coordination, and strategic planning. Arla is well known in the Sacramento area non-profit community and has a life-long passion for helping children.
Michael Nickey, Secretary

Mr. Nickey retired from Hewlett Packard after holding many positions as senior manager in computer manufacturing during his 32-year career with the company. Nickey is a Viet Nam veteran who has been active in the community serving for several years as chairman of the United Way Citizen Review Committee. He has also served on the PlacerCounty Community Services Commission with 2 terms as chairman of that commission. Nickey is also active in the Auburn Elks lodge and the local branch of Sons In Retirement (SIR).
Patricia Burgess, Attorney

Ms. Burgess has 30 years of experience as an attorney ranging from legal aid for elderly and low income clients to corporate, business and healthcare law. Patricia recently served as Assistant Chief Counsel for the California Public Employee’s Retirement System (CALPERS), where she supervised legal office investment counsel and managedoutside counsel for the entire investment office legal affairs. She is currently general counsel of Knight Vinke Asset Management, a NYC and Monaco based investment advisory firm.
Patty Carozzi, Marketing Director

Ms. Carozzi has over 20 years marketing, operations and customer service experience in real estate, consulting and high tech industries. Ms. Carozzi has spent several years in service to her community volunteering for organizations in various roles such as, Project Read-Literacy Volunteers of America, Rebuilding Together, Cal Veterans Fund, Arts& Business Council, Special Olympics, KVIE public television pledge drive, Blood Drives and various breast cancer awareness programs.
Janice Gage, Fund Development and Outreach Director

Ms. Gage is a native Californian residing in Placer County for the past 29 years and has been employed by the Placer County Executive Office since 1991 where she works as a Senior Management Analyst in the area of Health and Justice. Janice is well known for her volunteer service to the community of Auburn and has served as a Placer County Juvenile Justice Commissioner, chairman and long-term member of the Sierra College Accounting Advisory Committee, was elected the first woman president of the downtown Auburn Rotary Club in 2003 and is currently carrying out an appointment as the Rotary District 5190 Assistant Governor for the Auburn area.
Serita Koren Cox, Event Committee Chair

As a former Vice President for 3Com Corporation, Ms. Cox provides strategy and corporate restructuring consulting to Board of Directors and Executive Management of publicly traded companies. Her experience includes spin-off of subsidiary for IPO, Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring, merger of like-sized companies, acquisition and integration of companies, corporate strategy development, organization and operational re-engineering. Serita brings great business experience and a strong drive to Child Advocates, and is instrumental in creating benefit events for our program.
Murial Moore, Treasurer

Ms. Moore is a past San Jose Child Care Commissioner. She has worked in a supervisory capacity for Family Services of Santa Clara County and Adult and Child Guidance Center of San Jose.
Allen Roberts
Retired
Mr. Roberts recently retired from real estate in the Auburn area and brings with him an extensive set of connections in both the computer and real estate fields. Previously he was Options Processor for Hewlett Packard Corp., and has also owned and operated his own office systems firm. Allen joined our board in January, 2007 for a three year term.
Mike Johnson
Database Architect – Revenue Solutions, Inc.
Mr. Johnson is a Database Architect responsible for the logical and physical design of RSI data models, management of Solution Center Oracle and SQL Server databases and the creation and maintenance of database standards.  He also holds certifications of RSI database products on multiple platforms including Windows, Unix and Linux. Mike is also actively involved in the community, and is currently a member of the Maidu Neighborhood Organization, the Community Emergency Response Team, and a member of the Roseville Committee for Traffic Solutions.
Kathy Hendrickson
Independent Consultant – Organizational/Leadership Development
Ms. Hendrickson is a senior consultant specializing in organizational development, executive coaching, learning and leadership development strategies. Prior to branching out on her own, Kathy was the Senior Director of Strategic Change for Agilent Technologies. Her experience with Agilent and its parent company Hewlett Packard spanned 26 years. Kathy has long been interested in the welfare of children, and brings her great enthusiasm and executive competence to our board.
Nick Nelson
Business Deposit Consultant, Wells Fargo Bank
Mr. Nelson has extensive experience creating business plans, drafting and managing multi-million dollar budgets, managing staff, and building lasting relationships with individuals from a variety of communities throughout the United States. As a former professional golfer, Mr. Nelson has also managed numerous golf fundraising events, and as a former board member of CASA of El Dorado County, was influential in securing corporate funding. Nick has long enjoyed working with and for the benefit of children, and brings great enthusiasm to Child Advocates.
Don Kleinfelder, Executive Director
Mr. Kleinfelder has worked in the non-profit sector for over 15 years, including ten years as Executive Director of Exploring New Horizons, a $1.9M environmental education program where he raised nearly $1M to bring underserved students to 5-day science camps. Don holds a Master’s Degree in Hydrology/Hydrogeology from the University of Nevada-Reno. Prior to entering the non-profit sector he worked five years in the private sector as project hydrogeologist/project manager for a large consulting engineering firm. He joined Child Advocates as Executive Director in November, 2006, and is focusing on growing and sustaining the organization and enhancing alliances with the Judicial Council, National CASA, the Office of Emergency Services and various community/service organizations.
Kathryn Hart,
Case Supervisor

Mrs. Hart, a past Santa Clara County CASA, joins Placer County as our new Case Manager. During over 15 yrs with high tech companies, she progressed from Customer Service Sales to Director of Global Operations; she brings a wealth of experience in sales, marketing and operations. Kathryn attended University of Phoenix focusing on completing her Bachelor in Global Business Management. She has also been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Ombudsman and Adoption support services. Her personal knowledge as a CASA and her leadership skills is great benefit to our team.
