Text Box: In 2006, Placer County Children’s System of Care (CSOC) received 3,802 referrals of child maltreatment, of which 939 were substantiated and 308 resulted in children being entered into foster care/group homes. This process brought 355 children before the Placer County Dependency court. Being in existence for only two years, Child Advocates provided CASA volunteers for 16 of these children, meeting roughly 6% of the need.
In 2007, Child Advocates provided CASA volunteers for 61 children, a three-fold increase over 2006, and yet we still had Text Box: to turn away 301 children who needed our help.
Our goal is to meet the need of every child who enters the Placer County Dependency Court. To do this, we need your help. Become a CASA! Or support one of your community members who is already a CASA by making a donation today! Text Box: Be the Difference — Become a CASA/Support a CASA!

The CASA Advocate

Text Box: Inside this issue:
Text Box: It was a cold, wet night in early February, but our community braved the icy puddles and came out in huge support of Child Advocates of Placer County. Some three hundred guests came early and stayed late. They danced and gambled the night away in the glitz and glamour of Old Vegas as the Placer County Fairgrounds was transformed into the legendary Copa Room.
While the rain poured outside, Frankie and the Boys welcomed everyone to a rockin’ night. Our sponsors provided a decadent evening of live music, sumptuous hors d’oeuvres by Hannibal's Catering, martini, wine and beer bars, and non-stop excitement at the tables. Wonderful raffle prizes and a classic silent auction rounded out the evening Text Box: and made it truly special. We’d like to thank our fabulous Rat Pack, The Dean-o-Holics, and their nine-piece band for their Frankie-worthy performance. (cont. on p. 4)
