Text Box: Greetings!
With four trainings in 2007 and four more planned in 2008, we have been growing like crazy!
We currently have 61 active CASA volunteers and nearly 70 more waiting to be trained. Our April class should account for about 20 of them, and this summer we will try a “Men Only” training class to help us meet the need of the many boys in the foster youth system. Did I mention we are looking for male volunteers? Lots of men! Each week the court assigns more cases to us, and many require a male CASA, so if you know a good man (or if you ARE a good man), give us a call! WE NEED YOU! Good women are always welcome too, of course!
I continue to receive great feedback from attorney’s and the Judge on our progress. Commissioner Ross always lets volunteers know they are a welcome and important part of his Text Box: court. Many of the volunteers commented on how excited they are to be part of Placer County Juvenile Court System and how everyone has made them feel comfortable.
Our trainings would not be possible without the support of our donors and many supporting organizations. In particular, I want to thank Auburn Nissan, Gold Rush Chevrolet and The Rocklin Police Department for providing training locations. Also, a special thanks to Outback Steakhouse in Roseville and owner Robert Struthers for opening up the restaurant and sponsoring our February CASA Graduation Party! Great food and staff!
I’d like to give a special thanks goes to Lisa Peat, who in addition to being a CASA, volunteers in our office a couple of days a week helping Text Box: me prepare for training class, answering phones, and supporting CASA volunteers. This has been a tremendous help and lets me focus on areas of development within our program.
One last item, on April 29th the Lincoln Sun City Association will hold their 6th Annual Volunteer Symposium. We will have a table there and we will be searching for MALE VOLUNTEERS! This will be our first chance to reach out to the community at Sun City. Please join us if you get a chance.

We want to give a special “Thank You!” to our 61 CASA volunteers! Without their help and dedication our program would not be possible! If you see any of them, give them a nice pat on the back!
